No sooner had I returned to Dar, Emil had to leave for a relative’s funeral in Moshi. Torrential rain on Thurs. How Rich the driver could see where he was going ?? I certainly couldn’t see through the windscreen. He joked that everyone else had pulled over to sit out the rain so we had the road to ourselves !!! Very scary but I had to have faith in the guy. My window couldn’t close properly and I anticipated getting drenched by a passing bus. And I was right….the road was like a river and a bus splashed me….but I had already taken the precaution of putting my rain jacket and hat on..!!!
I heard there was a festival in Bagamoyo starting on Saturday so I decided to go a place I had never been to before. I must read up about the place and go again. But it took 3.5 hrs to get there and 4 hrs to get back…and it’s only 40 plus miles. Of course I was using public transport and there were 2 changes involved. Segerea to Mawasiliano. Mawasiliano to Njuki. And Njuki to Bagamoyo. It meant I only had an hour and a half there, but long enough to see what a huge fishing port it is. A long bay with as many as 50 fishing boats. I sat on the beach for a bit, had a beer and headed back.
Yesterday we chilled as the temperature rose !! We might’ve seen the last of the heavy rains as today is also very sunny.
Need to sort my Kenya visa.
