Thurs 6th
Took our time leaving Moshi. Nice breakfast then 15 minutes walk to the dala stage to Holili. A bit squashed but not too bad a journey. Mt Kili was still covered by clouds.
We were making good time until we were stopped for speeding at njia panda. Passengers were getting restless and saying..just pay the 30,000 fine and let’s get going. I don’t know what possible arrangement was made, but after about 20 minutes we were off again on our way to Himo. Had to change vehicles to the border. I accidentally discovered that my phone could switch to selfie mode during videoing..no need to clumsily turn the phone around. That means filming is much safer in that there’s a greatly reduced risk of dropping the phone.
Immigration was very smooth. Mark went to Challa Htl and me to my room. I saw Mercy. Kiti moto at Mwangaza in the mid afternoon. Mark was not feeling great so I went to Rockland on my own. Rained hard. The rains had started and mainly at night.
Fri 7th. Washed my sheet. Met up with Mark and went to the stage to book Naekana for the next day to Msa on the 08:00. 800ksh; the price hasn’t gone up for ages, despite the hikes in fuel prices. Went over to Mercy for tea and a chat. It was a take it easy sort of a day. I met up with Mark in the mid afternoon and slowly walked over to Rockland whilst introducing many of friends along the way. We bought a large 750cl bottle of spirit to share. We had to take cover in Rockland whilst a heavy storm passed over. The sun felt very hot. Apparently after the rain, the sun is much hotter. Otherwise, that was it. Mark back to Challa and me back to my room to finish packing for the trip to Mombasa.
